ClickTyper is an innovative application program intended for people who can't use a keyboard. It gives you the freedom to write with your computer. You don't even have to move the mouse – you can edit text and use the other features of the program just by pressing the button of the mouse. ClickTyper allows you to browse existing text, print it, get the computer to read it aloud to you, or export it as a text file. The program also provides audio feedback to help you keep track of what is happening.
ClickTyper can be adapted to the user's needs. The part of the program that helps you to write is called the Virtual Keyboard. You can customise some of the keys on the 'virtual keyboard'. You can alter it to suit different languages, and you can set accented letters or other special characters. By using Advanced Preferences, you can choose which items will be available in the main window of the program (navigation bar, printing, exporting, quitting the program, Shut Down, etc).
To avoid distraction, and to prevent accidentally switching to the Finder, you can hide the menu bar, and the title bar of the window. What's more, you can use a 'desk cover' to hide the desktop and any open windows of other application programs.
The program's default mode is 'Click Mode'. When you use Click Mode, you don't need to move the mouse. You can edit text and use the other features merely by clicking the mouse. If you prefer, you can choose 'Mouse Mode', which lets you use the mouse in the ordinary way. The program works equally well with an alternative pointing device such as a trackball.
If you have difficulty clicking a mouse (or trackball, etc), you may want to consider having an alternative device constructed for you by a third-party supplier. Possibilities include a switch that can be worked with a head movement, or a device that senses the movement of eyelids and sends a signal to the computer.
2) System requirements
ClickTyper requires: Mac OS version 7.1 or higher and a minimum of 2600K of available memory (RAM). To use the Shut down function you need AppleScript™ 1.1 or higher (not provided with this program). To use Read text aloud function you need Apple PlainTalk™ software (not provided with this program).
3) Known Problems
If “AutoMenus Pro” is installed on your machine, it is possible that ClickTyper won't work correctly.
4) How to Register
ClickTyper is shareware, if you use it for more than a week or two, please register your copy.
ClickTyper has the following pricing.
1 single user license, $20 per user
2+ single user licenses, $15 per user
A Site License costs $500 and covers all locations for your organization within a 160 kilometer radius of your site (100 miles). One big advantage of a Site License is that you do not need to keep track of how many people at your site are using the software. A World-Wide License costs $2000 and it covers all locations for your organization on the planet earth.
Paying for ClickTyper is fairly simple. Open the “Register” program that accompanies ClickTyper (if you are a credit card owner and have an Internet connection, you can register ClickTyper online using a web form you don’t need to use the “Register” application. For more information, please read the “Online Registration” section of this document).
Enter your name, your email address, and the number of single user licenses you desire (or Site or Word-Wide licenses). Save or Copy or Print the data from the “Register” program and send the data and payment to Kagi. More specifics on the “Register” program to follow. Kagi handles the payment processing.
Once you have registered, you are considered registered for all future versions of ClickTyper, so you do not need to pay any additional fees when you upgrade to a new version.
If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the data to Kagi. Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number is +1 510 652-6589. You can either Copy the data from “Register” and paste into the body of an email message or you can Save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number.
Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgement when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgement.
If you are paying with Cash or USD Check you should print the data using the “Register” application and send it to the address shown on the form, which is:

You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD checks is around USD 15 per check and that is just not practical. If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the “Register” program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment. Kagi can not invoice your company, you need to act on my behalf and generate the invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end. Please do not fax or email payment forms that indicate Cash, Check or Invoice as the payment method. As far as we know, there is still no technology to transfer physical objects via fax or email and without the payment, the form cannot be processed.
Payments send via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.
ClickTyper has a protection scheme and when you pay, we tell you how to indicate to ClickTyper that you have paid the registration fee. If you do not have an email address, please enter your complete postal address and please remember, we do not know what country you live in so please enter that into the postal address also.
If you do not have an email address you should consider selecting the Postcard Receipt so that Kagi can inform you of your registration code. Kagi transmits the registration codes via email and paid postcard receipt only.
5) Online Registration
If you are a credit card owner and have an Internet connection, you can register ClickTyper online using a web form. There are two versions of this form: a secure version and a standard version. You should use the secure version of the form unless you’re using an old web browser that does not support secure connections. Using a secure form ensures that all information flowing between your computer and the remote web server is encrypted during the whole session, protecting sensitive information from prying eyes.
